In 1996, Madhavan began his modeling career. His very first modeling job netted him Rs. 100 for a talcum powder commercial. After then, he had a few cameos in TV series like “Yule Love Stories,” “Banegi Apni Baat,” and “Ghar Jamai.” With the release of “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein” in 2001, Madhavan made his Bollywood film debut. The following three immensely popular movies—”Rang De Basanti” (2006), “Guru” (2007), and “3 Idiots”—all featured him in minor roles (2009).
He starred in the romantic comedy “Tanu Weds Manu” in 2011. Both the movie and his performance were commercial successes. He then took a break from acting for three years before coming back to the big screen. He played Manoj “Manu” Sharma in “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” in 2015.
